Cyber Security Assessment pilot tool

Why try out this Cyber Security Assessment tool?

This tool has been created and developed by experienced security experts from the National Cyber Security Centre and is hosted by Charity Digital.

Module reporting

The assessment is comprised of seven different modules that ask specific questions on the following important and crucial areas. Each section will take a few minutes to complete:

  • Data Protection
  • Security management
  • Mobile device security
  • Infrastructure, application and operational security
  • Security policies

You’ll have the opportunity to see how you score in a quick and simple way by viewing graphs and can review your answers for each module.

You’ll also be given cyber security and data guidance and recommendations according to your answers and scoring for each one.

All data that you enter in the assessment will be treated as strictly confidential, with only summary results being shared with the NCSC to enable evaluation of the success of the pilot. All data will be deleted 90 days after the end of the pilot which is currently scheduled to finish the end of December though you can choose to delete your data at any time.

How to create your Cyber Security assessment

Register and create a login

Note: You’ll be creating a new cyber assessment account and the login details will completely separate from your Charity Digital account.

If you have difficulties with logging in, let us know and we’ll help you with any issues.

Step 1: Complete your organisation details by answering basic questions to be able to start a cyber tool assessment for the first time.

Step 2: Go through and answer the questions which start off about your infrastructure and take you through 6 steps and ends with Data Security.

At each stage of the assessment, you’ll be guided by helpful information to answer your questions correctly. Once you have finished the assessment you’ll be able to review your results in detail.

If you don’t have all the information to hand when you are completing the assessment you can go back to this at a later stage by logging into your cyber account again.

Once you submit your answers you’ll have access to the detailed reports confirming your ratings and offering guidance on how to improve each section.

It was easy to set up an assessment, navigate through and follow the questions. The coloured graphs were very helpful for a quick glance at the results and I also used information from one of the guidance to support a volunteer in our organisation”.
