The Microsoft Volume License Service Center (VLSC) explained

What is the VLSC?
The Volume License Service Center (VLSC) is a portal that is used to download Microsoft software. You can also use it to obtain your product key to activate Microsoft products ordered through Charity Digital Exchange.

Here is a quick guide to some of the questions we’re most frequently asked about it by charities.

Why do I need to create an account with the VLSC?
Creating an account with the VLSC will allow you to access the software you have purchased via Charity Digital Exchange. Unfortunately Microsoft no longer provides disc versions of this software so download is the only option.

Can I use my own email address to create an account with the VLSC?
Yes you can. However, Microsoft purchases via Charity Digital Exchange will always be associated with your organisation’s primary email address. If your email is not the primary one, you will not see the license in your VLSC account.

How do I create an account for the VLSC?
You will need a Microsoft account to access the VLSC. You can create one here using your own domain – just click on “No account? Create one!”

Can I link my VLSC account with my recent purchase?
You can! Simply login to your VLSC account and click on the Administer button and then select ‘Add Open License’. You will be prompted for the License and Authorisation numbers – these can be requested from Charity Digital Exchange. Once you have entered this information, the license will be associated with your VLSC account. Please note it can take up to 48 hours for Microsoft to link the license with your VLSC account.

Can I get my License and Authorisation number from the VLSC itself?
Yes. However, you need log into the VLSC using your primary email address as your username to do so. Please click on Licenses and then on Relationship Summary. This page shows all the Volume Licensing Agreements that you have added to your account.

There are so many options! Where do I find the product I purchased?
When you see the full list of software, you should see an option to filter your search results on the left hand side of the screen. You can use this filter to search for your product and reduce the length of the list.

Can I add more than one user to the VLSC account?
Yes you can. Please click on Administration and then on Add User. Please enter the user’s details and you will be able to manage the permissions assigned to the user.

Can I customise the language in Office 2016?
Yes you can customise the language settings in on-premises Office software downloaded from the VLSC. You can download the language packs and proofing tools through the VLSC and learn more about the process here.
