Charity marketplace app Buengo has reached the finals of a United Nations award scheme for social impact initiatives.
Buengo is among dozens of organisations, charities and buisinesses around the world to reach the finals of the United Nations World Summit Award.
The Buengo app allows users to raise money by selling items and donating the proceeds or donating money directly.
It also allows users to sign up for volunteering opportunities, raise sponsorship money as well as freecycle items.
Buengo among four UK finalists
Buengo has made the final after being nominated in the business and commerce section. It is one of four UK finalists, also including eWATERpay, Chatterbox and community interest company Smartify, which allows users to scan and identify artworks.
Judging is taking place this week with the winners announced at the end of November.
“Buengo aims to make a difference, and we’re thrilled that we have been chosen as as a World Summit Awards finalist,” said Buengo Co-Founder and Chief Executive Officer Fela Hughes.
“Our objective has always been to empower more people to do good and make a positive impact on society, so it’s a real honour to be recognised for exactly that.”
The UN World Summit Awards includes entries from more than 180 countries and aims to highlight digital content that improves society and local content with global relevance.
