The Courtyard Trust is a large charity that operates The Courtyard Arts Centre - a space for art and performance that attracts over 250, 000 visitors a year. Based in Hereford, the centre was the first major new build Arts Council funded National Lottery capital project in England. With a large annual income and a wide base of supporters and service users, the charity needed dynamic and intuitive office software to meet their needs.
The Courtyard Trust gained access to discounted charity subscriptions to Office 365 E3 through the Charity Digital Exchange. The software offers a number of features, including Office accessibility for mobile devices, document and email access control, and Office for the web through SharePoint. This is just one of a number of collaborative tools included - the Microsoft Teams app in Office 365 allows people to chat, share assets and pool resources. Microsoft Office 365 E3 also enables access to features to help host online meetings, facilitate professional digital storytelling and allow file storage and sharing through unlimited OneDrive storage accessible from any linked device.
Matt Coles, Commercial Manager of The Courtyard Trust, listed Office 365’s primary benefits as ‘easy access to email accounts, licensed Office software, security’, whilst praising the affordability of the subscription. The charity found that they no longer required an on-premises exchange server, which stands to provide a significant long-term saving.
The feature that the charity most frequently use is Outlook email software. It replaced their own onsite setup, and The Courtyard Trust benefited from Microsoft Office 365’s integrated service, which increased efficiency and allowed for collaborative work to be done more easily.
