Charity Connect: Advance training will help charities to unlock the digital fundraising potential of e-commerce and the eBay platform
This article is sponsored by eBay for Charity - the charity e-commerce specialists.
In 2019, eBay supported more than 8,000 UK charities to raise £27 million for their causes, providing a shop window to the world that unlocks the chance to reach over £190 million potential buyers.
Fast forward to 2020 and charity e-commerce is more important than ever. With an increased focus on digital charity shop platforms in the wake of COVID-19, e-commerce is an important tool for the future of charity fundraising.
New safety measures introduced in charity shops will lead to lower capacities and increased queuing times. Many charity shops are reporting an increase in donated goods, but new safety regulations are leading to backlogs in these donations being made available for sale. Online retail platforms allow charities to make up lost revenue and expand their digital fundraising efforts.
This will be a first step into the world of e-commerce for many charities, and as such, there is a knowledge and skills gap in the sector. Educational and financial support are required to address this and get charity e-commerce operations up and running.
As part of its ongoing support for the charity community, eBay for Charity has announced the launch of Charity Connect: Advance. The training, which will help charities boost online revenues, runs for six months from September and there are 500 places up for grabs. Applications close 23:59 Monday 24th August 2020.
The training will see dedicated eBay specialists guide charities through everything they need to know about selling on eBay through a mix of 1:1 sessions, group surgeries, webinars and access to learning materials.
The Charity Connect: Advance curriculum will include a broad range of topics to help charities at all stages of their eBay journey, including onboarding and set up, Seller Centre, VAT, eBay policies, selling limits, and business policies. Additional expert-led training from consultants in topics such as advertising and social media will also be available.
The launch of Charity Connect: Advance will be supported by eBay for Charity’s Charity Toolkit - an on-site resource designed to help charities navigate the platform’s fundraising programmes, answer frequently asked questions and provide inspiration and ideas on how to further engage and excite supporters to help raise further funds on eBay.
Charities can also celebrate their fundraising success and share their story by entering into the eBay for Business Awards.
