New charity fundraising platform Wonderful.org
is celebrating the success of the first ever ‘Wonderful Week’.
The fundraising event saw participants throughout the UK clocking up miles for their chosen charities, under the reassurance that 100% of funds raised reach their intended cause.
The fundraising campaign was fronted by former Manchester United and England footballer Phil Neville and his wife Julie who covered a distance of 100 miles through swimming, cycling and running from 2-10 September, raising funds for The Good Life Orphanage in Kenya.
Also throwing their support behind the fundraising platform were Olympic gold medallist Katie Archibald MBE and her elite Women’s Cycling Team – Team WNT. The charitable teammates cycled a total of 1,500 miles to raise funds for The Christie, Europe’s leading and largest single site cancer centre, and a cause close to Team WNT’s hearts.
The week also saw Manchester locals Simon Liddiard and Dennis Lloyd complete a gruelling 50-mile bike ride from Manchester to Liverpool on Mobikes. The nine-hour ride raised funds for community project Veterans Garage – a social enterprise that aims to support ex-servicemen and women across the North West.
Founder of wonderful.org
, Kieron James, got behind the challenge with his family, covering a distance of 106 miles throughout the week, covering 50 miles in Paris, 25 miles in London and completion of the world’s biggest half-marathon – The Great North Run.
Also pounding the pedals for a worthy cause were twin sisters Lucy Cliff and Annie Cliff, and their partners Elliot Green and Ed Fox. The aptly named ‘Team Sisters and Misters’ pledged to cycle a combined distance of 450 miles through a combination of bike rides through the Alps, UK and during spin classes, raising money for The Good Life Orphanage in Kenya.
Leading real change in the fundraising sector, Wonderful.org is the only online fundraising platform that ensures 100% of money raised, and all Gift Aid, goes directly to the charity it’s intended. Unlike other platforms such as JustGiving, which charges fees of up to 7%, no deductions are made from sponsors to cover operating costs or card processing fees. Instead, these costs are met by the Wonderful Organisation’s philanthropic Corporate Sponsors.
Founder of Wonderful.org, Kieron James said: “We’re so grateful of all the support and hard work from everybody who’s got behind The Wonderful Week, and the efforts of every single fundraiser – from every mile cycled to every cake baked.
“We look forward to many more successful fundraising events, continuing to raise even more money for charities in the future.”
