With the deadline to enter the 2021 Tech4Good Awards extended, we want to make sure you’re prepared to put your organisation forward
Since March 2020, the charity sector has used digital technology to adapt many aspects of their operations and service delivery in response to the pandemic. But using digital technology to improve the lives of others and make the world a better place isn’t new. The AbilityNet Tech4Good Awards is now in its eleventh year and has been celebrating just this.
Their unique awards applaud organisations who have inspiring stories to tell when it comes to using technology for the greater good. With entries closing on Sunday 9 May 2021, we want to make sure that organisations don’t miss out on the opportunity to win an award.
Entering the 2021 awards is easy, free, and open to anyone across the world – as long as entries are written in English.
All you will need to do is check the entry criteria for the award you’re interested in, create an account, and submit your entry via Award Force.
Listen to Steven Thomas, CEO of Medicine Africa and winner of Tech4Good for Africa Award 2020 speak about his experience.
It’s always about the taking part, but it’s also nice to win. Tech4Good have released a webinar telling you just how you can do that!
To give your organisation a chance of winning, you’ll need to meet the expectations of the judges. Of the 27 judges, our very own Chief Executive, Jonathan Chevallier, will be one of the panellists narrowing down all the entries to just 40 finalists. The judges have highlighted that it’s the story you tell which will give you the best chance of taking an award home.
AbilityNet’s Head of Digital Inclusion stated, “we’re not necessarily looking for cutting-edge and breakthrough technology. If you’re approaching a need in a slightly different way and showing how it’s impacting individuals, then it’s important to tell the story of who it’s impacting”.
Similarly, you’ll want to tell judges what it would mean to your organisation if you became a finalist or won the award. You don’t necessarily have to be working with the newest or flashiest technology. Instead, judges are interested in how you’re adapting and using existing technology to bring the greatest change to individuals and communities.
While everyone likes to win an award, Tech4Good is also about networking with other organisations and learning from their inspiring work. Entering the awards can open you up to a warm community of like-minded organisations, all hoping to use tech for the greater good.
