We look at the new Giving Checkout tool, which gives charities the chance to implement donation options across various channels
In the past year, the physical donation bucket has essentially vanished. The act of giving has been almost entirely digitised and charities have had to meet that new demand. They’ve had to go to where their audiences are – and online audiences are everywhere. That has meant a vast increase in donation buttons, web links, QR codes, donation forms, and a myriad of other tools, buttons, and quirks.
Offering an easy and cost-effective online donation experience has become essential for effective fundraising.
It’s a process that the JustGiving team is trying to simplify. They have just launched a new service designed to make it easier for donors to support charities. Giving Checkout gives autonomy to charities, enabling them to implement the donation tool across their own channels, while also reassuring their donors that their donation process is powered by JustGiving – a name they know and trust for secure and easy online giving.
Charities can add Giving Checkout to all their digital channels, such as their websites, emails, and social media. And, importantly, they can also ask for donations via offline channels by using QR Codes in their direct mail and fundraising packs.
The new tool from JustGiving is also cost-efficient, without compromising on donor experience. In fact, it’s free for all direct donations, including regular gifts. There are 0% fees for charities. JustGiving will cover the payment processing fee for charities from a donor’s voluntary contribution when they give one, or absorb the cost when they don’t. That ensures charities using Giving Checkout receive 100% of the donation 100% of the time, no matter what.
The launch of Giving Checkout follows significant changes JustGiving has made to its fee structure in recent years. In 2019, JustGiving announced the end of the platform fee and the introduction of voluntary contribution, which allowed donors to make use of a ‘tipping’ model to support the operation of the platform.
Giving Checkout also gives charities 100% of the donor data, including the name, email, address, and opt-in status for every person who donates.
For those already using JustGiving, your Giving Checkout donations will be added to your existing payments from JustGiving and will appear in reports.
