Facebook launches Workplace for Good

has launched its Workplace for Good
programme, which aims to transform how charities, NFPs, NGOs and educational institutions connect, collaborate and create change in their community.
platform is a package of business collaboration tools launched in October 2016. More than 30,000 organisations in nearly every sector now use the platform, which uses the familiar Facebook interface, to share ideas, brainstorm and communicate.
Workplace for Good offers all the tools available to businesses for third-sector organisations, including mobile apps, video streaming and chat, photo and video storage, as well as collaborative tools. From today a premium version of the package is being made available free to third-sector and educational institutions globally.
“Workplace provides a critical solution for non-profits and educational institutions, two industries that have always relied on creativity and innovation in the face of resource constraints,” said Facebook in a statement. “Whether it’s reporting back from the field in real-time with live video, mobilising a network of volunteers in troublespots around the world through Workplace’s Groups feature, or simply accelerating the speed of information through a school district with News Feed, Workplace has empowered organisations like never before – and they, in turn, have pushed the product to its limits.”
Facebook has already announced that it is to donate Workplace for Good tools free-of-charge to charitable organisations such as the World Wildlife Fund, Comic Relief, Unicef, Save the Children, RNIB, NRC, It Gets Better, Australian Catholic University, and the Miami Dade School District.
, the charity behind the Charity Digital Exchange donation programme, is working with Facebook to validate charities for the programme, at no additional cost to signups.

All of this ultimately helps us to work more effectively, and makes even more of a difference for children who need Unicef’s help.”
