The NCVO is offering free digital support to its online governance tools to mark Trustees Week (November 4 – 8). During the week the charity sector body is offering free access to the public and the wider charity sector to digital tools aimed at improving governance and helping new people to consider trusteeship and volunteering opportunities with charities. The tools are usually only available to NCVO members.
Until Friday, it's open access to all our online governance resources, including our highly popular board basics package of guides and templates. Great bargains on face to face training also.

This digital support includes a downloadable sample board paper to be used by charity bosses reporting to the board of trustees. “The purpose of the report is to offer trustees a high-level overview of the organisation’s work and key strategic developments,” according to the NCVO. “The report itself is a scrutiny tool and to help trustees ensure they are both supporting and challenging the most senior member of staff to succeed in their role.” The free to all tools also includes an online training course involving videos and downloadable documents to introduce people to trustee’s role and responsibility. This includes legal duties and potential liability.
The tools aim to support charities to implement the Charity Governance Code, a charity sector led set of guidance to help those in the voluntary sector to be compliant with the law and regulations. “Trustees’ Week is an opportunity to highlight the excellent work of trustees, to support boards to improve governance and encourage new people to consider trusteeship and volunteering opportunities,” the NCVO adds. “NCVO will be releasing new guidance, offering free access to all governance resources and discounts on products and training.” This includes a 10 per cent discount on face to face governance courses. In addition a new trustee review tool is being released specifically around the Charity Governance Code, which is also being made free to all this week.
