Givey is a fundraising platform that lets supporters donate to UK-based charities receive donations through social media. Using the Givey hashtag, it is possible to tweet or text donations to the 8,000 charities it has partnered with.
Since its launch in 2011, Givey has handled more than £1m of donations. In the last year alone, more than £770,000 of donations has passed through the platform.
Givey's expansion means that any group or organisation around the world can use the platform in their fundraising efforts. Non-UK registered charities will be known as Givey “Projects”.
It will apply a 5 per cent charge on top of each donation to cover its vetting and transactional costs, though assures that 100 per cent of each donation, including 25 per cent from Gift Aid if selected, will go to its charity.
“We are very excited to announce that it is time for Givey to expand to fulfil our mission of helping others and make giving a genuine habit,” Erasmus said.
