Online fundraising platform Localgiving has announced details of this year’s Grow Your Tenner campaign, which aims to boost long term donations to small charities.
The annual campaign has been run since 2012 and sees Localgiving
match fund monthly direct debit donations of £10 to local charities and community groups for six months.
This year’s campaign starts on 11 December and runs until 10 January 2019, or until the funding runs out, whichever comes first.
The total 2018 match funding pot is £100,000. All Localgiving members are eligible to take part, with each able to access up to £5,000 in match funding.
Campaign aims to boost long-term support
Another focus of the campaign is to encourage people to become long-term supporters of small charities and groups.
Over a year a donor who sets up a monthly direct debit of £10 will provide over £200, including Gift Aid, to a charity.
“Local charities and community groups provide essential support for the most vulnerable people in society and we want this campaign to help celebrate and secure long-term support for these valuable organisations,” said Chris Dormer, Head of Business Development at Localgiving.
“Sadly, local organisations have been disproportionately affected by local authority cuts, with demand for their services rising year on year and funding becoming even harder to access.
“Our annual Grow Your Tenner campaign, now in its seventh year, is specifically designed to help groups bring in the unrestricted funding they need to stay afloat and continue providing their life-changing work.”
The 2017 Grow Your Tenner campaign raised more than £670,000 for around 1,000 charities and groups.
In September Localgiving announced an overhaul of its online fundraising support
to make it easier for individuals to raise money.
