Our regular podcast returns for its latest instalment, this time answering your COVID-19 questions.
The Charity Digital Podcast returns this week for another instalment, with this episode answering some of the COVID-19 questions you’ve submitted to us so far. Our regular podcast highlights the challenges facing the sector and the successful organisations that overcome them.
As we are well aware by now, the charity sector is changing. The COVID-19 pandemic has caused a complete upheaval for charities, demanding a ‘new normal’ everywhere. Physical events and fundraisers have been swapped for innovative new virtual alternatives, face-to-face service delivery has been switched to remote connections and the usual office environment has shifted to the home office. The list goes on.
With such a seismic shift in such a short space of time, charities have been left with questions about their new remote ways of operating and their increased reliance on digital. We’ve been asking charities to submit these questions to us and, with the help of everyone in the Charity Digital team, we’ve answered them for you.
In the latest episode of our podcast series, four members of the Charity Digital team answer some of the questions submitted by charities so far. Lisa Chomette (Business Development Manager), Stewart Barber (Client Account Specialist), Chris Hall (Marketing Manager) and Elizabeth Carter (EComms Project Manager) come together virtually to help charities with any issues they’ve been having.
Questions centre around which digital platforms can be used for remote working- what’s out there for charities to take advantage of and what are the pros, cons, features and even security risks of the different options. What with so many organisations working with vulnerable people, it is important that charities ensure they are using the best possible technology to mitigate any risk to their beneficiaries.
Digital can also be utilised to support and motivate your workers or volunteers and engage your audience and donors, with the conversation looking at which platforms work best for this and the advantages or potential risks they have. The importance of motivating all your charity’s staff and volunteers and keeping connected is key and our team highlights how and why digital is the main way that this remains possible at the moment.
The discussion includes an in-depth analysis of the main digital players when it comes to remote working and conference calling but, as Lisa Chomette highlights, these are not the only useful tools available to charities. The conversation also sheds light on other platforms that can be equally as beneficial and the offers that are out there to take advantage of. We also explain the eligibility of our Charity Digital exchange programme, which gives charities access to discounted and donated technology.
Digital is becoming an everyday fact of working life and figuring out how to navigate this can be challenging for any charity, no matter it’s size. We want to be on hand to help charities on their digital journey and equip them with the tools and information to thrive digitally during COVID-19 and beyond.
