A free online version of a philanthropic studies MA course has been made available to charity workers looking to ramp up their understanding of the voluntary sector during the Covid-19 pandemic.
A university is offering charity professionals a free, online masters programme in philanthropy.
The University of Kent has developed a free version of its one-day masters programme in philanthropic studies for charity sector professionals to help them during the Covid-19 pandemic.
The aim of this MA in a Day course is to offer charity professionals better understanding of latest ideas and perspectives of giving.
This covers themes such as the fundamentals of philanthropy, volunteering and society as well as major donor fundraising.
The online course includes lectures, suggested reading and other resources. Also included is regular weekly webchats with academics and guest experts.
Among lecturers on the course are Dr Eddy Hogg, Director of Studies for Social Policy at the University of Kent, and Emma Beeston, Independent Philanthropy Advisor.
Challenging Times
Dr Beth Breeze, Director of the University of Kent’s Centre for Philanthropy, said: “In these most unusual and challenging times we are keen to use our resources to help the charity sector in any way we can.”
The range of free support for charity workers has rocketed in recent weeks in response to the coronavirus lockdown and growth in homeworking.
This includes an array of cyber security webinars. In addition, the National Council for Voluntary Organisations has made its suite of online charity resources free for all charities. Other tech offers for charities can be found here.
