Virgin Money Giving preps online promotional push
04 Oct 2018by Joe Lepper
Fundraising website Virgin Money Giving is to launch a promotional push to raise awareness of its updated website.
The online advertising campaign starts on October 8 to promote an overhaul of its website, which includes a redesign that is optimised for mobile and tablet.
The campaign also includes the release of a YouTube film showcasing the different ways people are looking to raise money, from parachuting to swimming events.
Already the online improvements have seen a 34% rise in donations for those fundraising on the site, says Virgin Money Giving.
Other updates include a reporting tool for charities, to help them access fundraising data.
Further changes are planned in December when Virgin Money Giving will introduce a new feature allowing donors to pay the platform fee on behalf of the charity they are donating to.
Website re-engineered to maximise donations
“Over the past 18 months, we have re-engineered and enhanced the Virgin Money Giving donation experience to help charities maximise donations,” said Jo Barnett, Executive Director at Virgin Money Giving.
“As a not-for-profit business we don’t make a profit from peoples’ generosity. Unlike other fundraising sites, our low fees only cover our operating costs. We don’t charge charities monthly fees and we don’t apply a fee for Gift Aid. This means more money goes to good causes rather than into the pockets of shareholders.”
Virgin Money Giving was launched in 2009. Since then more than 14,500 charities have registered and more than £660m has been donated, via the digital fundraising platform.
Fundraisers can personalise their pages as well as send out email alerts about fundraising events, through the platform.
