How will your service users respond? Will your audience engage with the project? Have you got buy-in from your whole team? These are the main questions leaders will ask themselves when planning digital projects. But there’s one crucial question missing from that list. How digitally accessible is this? Accessibility is crucial if you want to fully include everyone in your exciting digital plans.

Although many will consider accessibility, it often doesn’t get brought up early enough in strategy planning conversations. This means you can end up incurring additional costs later down the line and compromising on user experience. As charity leaders, it’s crucial that we’re championing accessibility from the get-go and that accessibility is high on each and every agenda. These charities will be the ones to thrive digitally, when everyone has access to their content, services and information, no matter what. The Digital Accessibility Maturity Matrix (DAMM) uses a structured approach to identify where you are now, where you want to get to, and agree on achievable actions to make progress.

This interactive workshop will focus on some key elements from the DAMM that can help your charity with its digital accessibility. The workshop will teach you a method to ensure digital accessibility is baked into your strategies, projects and culture at every stage. You’ll learn how you can create new digital services and experiences that ensure all users can benefit. Mark, Robin and Amy from digital accessibility experts, AbilityNet, will be running this interactive workshop.

Learning outcomes:

  • A step-by-step DIY kit on how to build a digital accessibility strategy
  • How to get buy-in from stakeholders and measure ROI
  • How to implement processes that build an action plan and accessibility roadmap

Who is this workshop for?

  • Charity leaders from Medium (income £100K-£1M) to Supermajor (income of <£100M) charities who want to make their digital accessibility a priority
  • Those working in leadership roles, such as Manager, Senior Executive, Consultant or Director roles
  • Leaders working in job roles in Digital Innovation, Marketing/Comms, IT/Technology and General Management
  • Leaders who want accessibility to be high on their charity’s agenda, but haven’t got the support to escalate this
  • You don’t need prior digital expertise to apply for this workshop, but we recommend you have an understanding of the Digital Accessibility Maturity Model (DAMM). The workshop is suitable for those ranging from uneasy, comfortable and confident with accessibility, who want to champion digital accessibility!
