Heritage Digital Academy LIVE: Building Digital Sustainability

Heritage Digital Academy LIVE is a free, online event for those working in Heritage to gain knowledge and skills to build digital sustainability. 

 

Digital confidence, competence and curiosity are the key drivers to building a more resilient organisation. One that is able to not only respond to the changing needs of society, but that is also empowered to actively reimagine their purpose, mission and operating model in a digital world. You can join hundreds of other heritage organisations who want to improve their digital and organisational resilience at Heritage Digital Academy LIVE! 

 

Results from the 2021 DASH survey highlighted how the sector is still in a reactive mode, using digital to respond to business critical challenges, but also wanting time and space to explore how digital can support their vision and operations on a more strategic level. It also revealed that people working in heritage are looking for leaders to provide a clear strategic vision for digital, and how this is relevant for organisational aims. 

 

Our event is structured on these themes;  

  1. Our morning sessions focus on quick wins and tactical changes to unblock immediate challenges in your heritage organisation 
  2. Our afternoon sessions focus on embedding digital within strategic and operational planning  

By attending, you will;  

  • hear from digital and technical experts through 2 panel discussions and 5 inspiring sessions
  • be inspired and encouraged by heritage peers through sharing experiences of their digital journeys 
  • connect with others in your sector through a live chat feature and online networking lounges 
  • be able to participate in dedicated roundtables
  • gain access to additional educational content and resources

Heritage Digital LIVE will feature speakers from DOT PROJECT, Naomi Korn Associates, Media Trust and those working in the Heritage Sector.

Last autumn, the DASH survey gathered the voices of 4,500 staff, trustees, volunteers and freelancers across the heritage sector on how the sector’s use of digital evolved during the pandemic. A year on, Jonathan Chevallier, CEO of Charity Digital reflects with heritage specialists from across the UK on what is next for the sector when it comes to digital.

Quick wins - Content Repurposing

When time and resources are short, it can be tempting to create content as you go. But coming up with new content all the time is exhausting and not very efficient. This session will help heritage organisations to plan their big pieces of content and give them practical ways of repurposing it easily and effectively. It will demonstrate how to take one blog, article or podcast, and turn it into lots of smaller pieces of content, saving time and budget.

  • Understand the power of content repurposing for saving time and money.
  • Feel confident to explore new platforms and tools to enable you to repurpose content more easily.
  • Approach content creation in a more strategic way, investing in cornerstone pieces of content.

How can Heritage organisations lead the conversation on social media? Planning content is key to maximising a charity’s resources. Whilst it might take time to get set up, having a content calendar that reflects the charity’s key messages will lead to more efficient digital comms.

 

Learning Objectives:

  • Understand the benefits of a content calendar, and be aware of the free tools which are available.
  • Understand how to plan a variety of content around key messages, and asses its performance.
  • Learn practical tips on how to be efficient and consistent in content planning.
  • Understand how these principles apply to a campaign or an event.

Starting with very little budget, little experience and limited time, many organisations have been piloting with digital technology to support their strategic aims.
