Lhasa Ltd. transitioned to a cloud-based system just in time for the move to remote working
Lhasa Ltd. is a major charity working within the life sciences industry. They use advanced analytics to accelerate scientifically-robust decision-making within the sector.
Their technology is developed for scientists, by scientists, and is developed in collaboration with industry stakeholders and regulators.
Their not-for-profit status ensures that their sole focus is on helping members and partners to achieve success, and driving innovation within the field of life sciences.
Like many charities, Lhasa Ltd. worked primarily out of one central office. In the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, and the subsequent UK-wide lockdown, the charity had to make the transition to remote working.
This can be hard for charities who rely on desktop systems or other information-sharing networks that don’t encourage remote access.
Lhasa Ltd. purchased subscriptions for Office 365 Business. Rather than a traditional desktop license assigned to a specific computer, these subscriptions are purchased per user: allowing people to work across whatever devices suit them.
This has obvious advantages for the charity sector, where teams may include volunteers, field workers and those with flexible working arrangements. In the current situation, with more teams working remotely than ever before, products such as Office 365 Business have allowed Lhasa to continue their operations and provide their essential services to the life sciences sector.
In a time where the scientific study of life and organisms is at the forefront of everyone’s minds, Lhasa’s advanced analytics continue to help streamline the drug development process, therefore, reducing animal testing and safeguarding human health.
Recent events have forced most UK charities to adopt remote working arrangement - many of them for the first time. When moving to a remote workforce, it is important to ensure that team members have the tools they need for communication and collaboration.
Microsoft Teams, which is included within Office 365 subscriptions, allows remote and office-based workers to keep in real-time contact through a number of features. This includes instant messaging and video-conferencing as well as quick and easy file-sharing.
Microsoft Business 365 was a natural fit for Lhasa’s mission statement of ‘innovation through collaboration’. Sharepoint enabled their team to easily share research and other documents. Quick and easy file-sharing and other technologies that allow charities to permit access to a shared central bank of resources can maximise the productivity and efficiency of remote teams.
