A new free e-book has been released that explains the principles of agile working, and how charities can embrace powerful new ways of driving efficiency and becoming future-proof
A new eBook guide from charity HR experts Breathe explains how an agile working approach can help charities adapt to the future, be more efficient and do more good with fewer resources thanks to the strateguc use of new technology.
Charities can learn what agile working means, its eight key characteristics and why agile working practises are being introduced to a wide variety of industries including the charity sector.
The guide is an ’espresso’ version of the Culture Economy report released last year, focusing on the agile working chapter of the report in a form that’s easy to browse through on a coffee break and share with colleagues.
Agile working began in the IT sector as a way to create apps and digital products quickly and accurately. The methodology and the ethos behind it have since been adapted by organisations of all kinds and sizes, who are moving away from traditional ways of working to embrace a working culture more fit for the digital age.
Organisations embracing agile working practises are "adaptive, flexible, innovative and resilient when dealing with complexity, uncertainty and change" – something which charities can greatly benefit from as they face a changing funding landscape post-Brexit, with fewer people donating to charity and a lack of trust in the sector still pervasive. Poor levels of public trust in the charity sector stem from questions over use of resources.
Agile working can help charities make the most of their limited budgets, and free up valuable staff time to spend on core activities. Charities also face a rapidly changing donor and service user landscape thanks to the fast-moving world of digital technology. They need to adopt ways of working that recognise this and give them the flexibility to adapt and the confidence to achieve their goals.
