When Microsoft Teams was launched in 2017, the idea was to bring together the collaboration and communication capabilities within the Office 365 app family into one unified hub for sharing and communicating in an organisation. Skype for Business is being retired and merged into Microsoft Teams for this reason. Microsoft Teams features include group and direct instant messaging, video conferencing, voice calling, screen and file sharing, and meeting scheduling.
Because it’s built as part of the Office 365 platform, organisations will automatically have access to this collaboration suite if they use many of the standard Microsoft Office applications, and it integrates seamlessly with apps like Microsoft Outlook for functions such as scheduling meetings.
