In our latest video, Robert Smith, Information and Advice Manager at Age UK Shropshire, Telford & Wrekin, discusses the process of delivering digital inclusion services to older people in the local community
Responding to the widespread shift towards digitisation in recent years, which has disadvantaged 2.3 million older people who do not use the internet, the Engage project run by Age UK Shropshire, Telford, and Wrekin (Age UK STW) helps make the digital world understandable and relevant to older people in the local community.
In this video, Robert Smith explains how person-centred support can be transformative for older people, and reflects, “There’s been a few really eye-opening things that we’ve been coming across, especially when delivering one-to-one, home-based support. It’s around those people with memory-loss, with sight-loss, that perhaps were digital natives but are now really struggling to continue to do it.”
