We outline an inventory of all the essential hardware that charities need, each of which is available to gain on the Charity Digital Exchange in the lead up to Black Friday 2024
Charity Digital serves to accelerate the digital capabilities of other charities. We partner with leading tech providers to deliver a software donation platform, the Charity Digital Exchange.
We’ve supported more than 80,000 non-profits with our discount and donation services, saving charities over £288 million. But we also help to educate sector about digital capacity and skills.
We encourage charities to buy the latest and best hardware, often at heavily discounted prices. But we want to emphasis that many charities, especially smaller charities, don’t always need the latest tech. So, on Black Friday, we explore the best discounted tech on the market and propose some refurbished alternatives for each, providing something to suit every charity’s needs.
Below is an inventory, showcasing all the hardware that charities need. Check out the sections below and find out how you can save money, support charities, and help the climate.
Let’s start with laptops, arguably the most essential part of any digital charity. If you’re looking for a new laptop at discounted prices, check out offers from our partners at Dell. Dell Technologies provides charities with up to a 20% discount off their equipment, including 10% discount on all Alienware laptops and 5% discount on all Latitude, Precision, and Optiplex laptops.
To access these savings, you can visit the Exclusive Member Offer page, enter your email and charity name as a unique password, then apply the Charity Digital coupon code at the checkout.
But new laptops are only one option – and we often find refurbished laptops are great for charities, saving money and helping the environment by minimising e-waste. Two of our favourite places to find refurbished laptops are Computers 4 Charity and In Kind Direct. Both are charities themselves and both offer fantastic deals on refurbished laptops, so check them out.
Dell offers great deals on desktops, too. Deals include 10% discount on all Alienware Desktops and 5% discount on all XPS desktops. And, as with the above, Computers 4 Charity provide deals on desktops – and they currently have a sale on, with even greater reductions for charities.
People often want the latest snazzy phone or tablet, but the prices seem to grow year-on-year. But a far more affordable, and environmentally sustainable, option exists: refurbished phones and tablets. And, again, our friends at Computers 4 Charity provide great deals on both.
For refurbished tablets, you can find brilliant deals on seventh generation Apple iPads, Samsung Galaxy Tab A, and Lenovo Tab M10. All of these are great options – and the latter two cost less than £100, far cheaper than the new options currently on the market.
For refurbished phones, they offer great deals, all of which are profoundly cheap. An Apple iPhone SE will cost just £100, an iPhone 8 Plus will cost £110, and so on. Some great refurbished phones are selling for as little as £45, so check out Computers 4 Charity to see what you can find.
Computers 4 Charity do some great refurbished monitors too, all of which are affordable, some of which are just £55. But you’ll need to move quickly as stocks for monitors are running low.
On the Charity Digital Exchange, you can access some great monitors with huge discounts available. You can get up to 10% discount on Alienware, G series, S and SE monitors. And you can get 5% discount on all E, U, P, and C series monitors – all available on the Exchange.
You can use Cisco networking equipment, security cameras, sensors, and licenses to create a functioning network, secure office spaces, and avoid service disruptions. And, on Black Friday 2024, there are some great offers on Cisco equipment, particularly their security cameras.

Right now, on the Charity Digital Exchange, eligible charities can get 10% of all Dell Accessories and up to 20% off all Alienware Accessories. Accessories include, among other things, keyboards, headphones, gaming headphones, a Bluetooth mouse, socks for laptops, soundbars, parts and batteries, and so on.
There is so much available, much of which is discounted.
But you can get some great refurbished tech accessories. You can get keyboards and other accessories on In Kind Direct and, as ever, some brilliant stuff from Computers 4 Charity.
The above deals with tech basics. But you can find deals on the more futuristic side of tech, including virtual reality (VR). On the Charity Digital Exchange, we have an exciting deal on Meta VR headsets, which provide immersive VR experiences to staff, volunteers, and constituents, and can help your charity work, create, train, and collaborate with all the benefits of the virtual world.
The deal includes one Meta Quest Pro VR headset, two Meta Quest Touch controllers, one charging dock, charging cables and power adapters, two stylus tips, two light blockers, one cable clip, one protective cover, one cleaning cloth, two wrist straps, and a one-year warranty. All of that costs just £200, a huge reduction on the original price, available only for eligible charities.
The Cisco Systems donation programme provides an assortment of wired and wireless networking hardware products and cameras to eligible nonprofits and charities.
There are so many deals at the moment that they’re worth mentioning separately. All of the following charities can gain by going on the Charity Digital Exchange:
