National Lottery hands children’s charity £100,000 digital improvement grant

The money will be used by Make-A-Wish to improve the way it manages applications for its work to grant wishes for seriously ill children.
Make-A-Wish children’s charity has been handed £100,000 in National Lottery funding to boost its digital capabilities.
The charity that raises money to grant wishes to seriously ill children has been awarded the money from the National Lottery Community Fund to improve its operations and impact.
It is to use the money to build a digital platform to better manage applications for wishes and the impact of children’s “wish journey”.
It is hoped the new platform will increase the number of children and communities being helped.
Make-A-Wish Chief Executive Officer Jason Suckley said: “Without this essential funding we would not be able to continue to develop the capabilities of Make-A-Wish UK.
“The demand for wishes is at its highest ever and we want to be able to grant the wish of every child that turns to us.
“This funding will allow us to create a networked organisation where wishes are not only delivered through Wish Granters at our hub, but also within the locality of wish children and their families, increasing the impact of every life-changing wish.
“We want to thank all National Lottery players for their support. Without them our ambitions would not be possible.”
Digital Fund
The grant has been allocated through the National Lottery’s £15m Digital Fund, set up to help charities improve their use of digital.
National Lottery Community Fund Spokeswoman Phoebe Tickell, added: “We’re delighted to be able to support Make-A-Wish UK as they harness digital technology in creative and forward-thinking ways, to both transform the way they operate, and the way that services are delivered across the voluntary sector over the long-term.
“Now, thanks to National Lottery players, Make-A-Wish UK can increase their digital capacity to have a greater impact and support our sector to thrive in the digital age.”
