We introduce TechSoup and outline how they are partnering with charities to help them adopt, manage, and optimise digital tools
More than nine in ten charities say they are excellent or fair at using digital tools in their day-to-day work, according to the 2025 Charity Digital Skills report. Yet many charities find themselves unable to use digital technology to their full advantage due to budgets and skills limitations.
While the biggest barrier to progressing with digital in the charity sector is squeezed organisational finances, lack of skills among service users and internally were also cited as barriers to delivering and improving digital services in Charity Digital’s Digital Inclusion report. More than half of charities find it difficult to reach service users due to problems with digital technology. Almost two thirds of charities say they struggle to find the funds to invest in infrastructure, systems, and tools.
Digital technology has the power to unlock the potential of the charity sector. It can transform services, making them more efficient and accessible to communities in need. It can supercharge fundraising efforts, helping charities to reach more people and drive more awareness of their cause. And crucially it can save charities time and money, allowing them to divert their resources to where they are most needed: their mission.
Fortunately, TechSoup is one organisation committed to helping charities achieve their goals with digital technology. TechSoup UK is the new home for charity tech discounts, donations, and advice. It is free to sign up and allows UK charities to access exclusive free or highly discounted software, hardware, and services.
In this article we explore more of the ways TechSoup is supporting the UK charity sector, harnessing the power of digital to achieve their missions.
Charities need and deserve better technology support than they currently receive. Charities do some of the most critical work in our communities and safeguard some of the most sensitive data, often while lacking the internal tech knowledge and leadership they need.
Indeed, making digital decisions can be challenging without a full picture of how it works. With the pace of technological change only increasing, charities may feel unsure about how to proceed with the tools needed to improve how they work.
TechSoup is addressing this challenge head-on. Having built a global network of technology partners over the past 30 years, TechSoup has since been growing its pool of resources focused on educating charity leaders about technology options available to them. Through TechSoup, charities can access courses and webinars, as well as information and advice from experts and other organisations in the sector.
Some of TechSoup’s most popular courses include guidance on using Excel effectively, improving reach with Google AdWords, and email marketing. These resources are designed to give charities the same digital advantages as private sector companies, without the hit to their already-stretched budgets.
For three decades, TechSoup has worked with leading technology providers to give charities access to digital tools at significant discounts. Whether it’s designing professional social media graphics (e.g. Adobe Express) or protecting their organisation against cyber threats (e.g. Cisco, BitDefender, and Norton), there are plenty of tools available to charities more cheaply through TechSoup’s online marketplace.
TechSoup’s longstanding partnership with Microsoft also provides charities with access to discounted and donated Microsoft products, including Microsoft Office 365, Microsoft Copilot, and much more.

Charities of all sizes deserve to be able to make the most of affordable digital technology. But as things stand, only those organisations with the biggest IT teams are able to easily implement new tools without additional stress and complexity.
One of the biggest benefits TechSoup has to offer is greater support. Not only does TechSoup provide charities with access to digital tools, it also helps with implementation and maintenance through the experts on its dedicated customer support team.
TechSoup aims to assist charities with making decisions around digital technology, building their confidence in adopting, managing, and optimising their digital tools to better support their mission in a sustainable and cost-effective way.
