Looking for ways to engage your supporters during Easter and raise money at the same time? Here’s nine Easter fundraising ideas
The Easter period is a brilliant opportunity to engage families in your cause and provide fun activities for everyone to get involved in. Many of these ideas are easy to organise and accessible for supporters of any age.
Here’s nine Easter fundraising ideas to raise money for your cause.
With the popularity of Great British Bake Off and people having more time during the lockdowns to hone their baking skills, why not encourage supporters to organise an Easter Showstopper bake-off at their work?
Participants can pay a small fee to enter their Easter Showstoppers and the cakes can be sold afterwards as part of a bake sale, or they could be auctioned individually.
A fun Easter fundraising idea for schools, which will also teach them about an old Easter tradition, is an Easter bonnet parade. Children can either accessorise one of their parent’s hats or they can make their own bonnet.
They then give a small donation to take part in the parade where a winner will be chosen. As well as a great idea for schools, this is a lovely event for a local community too.
Contact some local businesses to ask if they’d donate an item or two to your Easter hamper raffle. Items could include Easter eggs, a bottle of wine, traditional Easter food such as a lovely cut of lamb, jars of condiments and much more.
If you have enough items, you could do themed hampers, such as a chocolate hamper, a home and garden hamper, a bath products hamper etc.
People love a guessing challenge. Fill a jar with small Easter eggs and then charge people to guess how many are in the jar. The closest guess wins the jar of Easter eggs!
Organise a big afternoon tea event, that’s ticketed, for children to meet the Easter Bunny. This can be organised as an event by your charity or you could encourage supporters to host their own ‘meet the Easter Bunny’ parties where they ask guests to make a donation.
Looking for a fun challenge that creates user-generated content for your social channels? Create a challenge such as doing ten Bunny hops around the garden, the local park or in the living room (dressing up as a bunny is optional!), then ask them to tag five friends to do the same and make a donation to your charity.
Don’t forget to ask them to tag your charity in their posts, Reels or Stories so that you can thank them for taking part. You may also want to create a hashtag for your challenge so that you can see how many people are taking part, when you click on the hashtag.
Everyone loves an Easter egg hunt! Why not make yours stand out by giving children a map with clues for them to solve that will help them find where the eggs are hidden?
You’ll need to find somewhere like a park or sports field and you’ll likely need to ask permission so factor this into your planning.
There are a few ways that you can fundraise from this event. Either you could charge tickets or you can make the event free but build in opportunities to raise money, such as a cake and refreshment stall, fete games, a raffle, or you could ask for sponsorship from a local business.
This is a fun idea for any age. How many eggs you will need will depend on how many prizes you want to give away. Take a tray of eggs, with one or more painted with a golden base, and partly bury them in sand, wood shavings, shredded paper – or you could even keep them in an egg tray (as long as the base isn’t visible!).
Participants pay a small amount to have a go at choosing an egg. The eggs with the golden base mean that they have won a prize.
Since Easter is synonymous with chocolate, why not challenge your supporters to give up chocolate for a month before Easter? Fundraisers can ask their friends, family and colleagues to sponsor them to abstain from all chocolate (yes, even hot chocolate!) for a whole month, culminating in being able to eat chocolate on Easter Sunday.
