Our new and improved Digital Strategy Accelerator, built with funding from solutions experts Okta, will help charities to create a meaningful, unique, and effective digital strategy. But we need your support
An effective digital strategy improves direction and decision-making, ensures ownership and team buy-in, increases accountability and transparency, allows greater oversight of tech infrastructure, minimises risk and increases opportunity, and so much more. They are a proven and vital resource for any organisation.
But too many charities struggle to develop and execute an effective digital strategy. A common roadblock is resource – or lack of resource. Charities are strapped for time, struggling to navigate a full workload. As strategies are perceived to yield positive results in the long-term, they are not seen as a priority in the short-term, and often take a back seat to more immediate service user demands.
Another common roadblock is lack of knowledge, skills, or awareness. Charities don’t know that they need a digital strategy at all – and many more do not know how a digital strategy should look, how it should be used, or even what a digital strategy should aim to achieve.
Simply put, too many charities neglect the power of a digital strategy. That’s why we’re designing a Digital Strategy Accelerator (DSA), formed with funding from identity solution experts Okta, to overcome such roadblocks.
The DSA is a learning journey, completely free-of-charge, that takes charities from the start of the process all the way to a finish product, helping them to build an effective and robust strategy in a matter of days or weeks.
And we need your help. We’re looking for people to test our new course on the learning management system (LMS), to ensure that it offers the best possible solution for charities. Please help us and register your interest by clicking the button below – and keep reading for some background information and more details.
Over the past five years, Charity Digital has been developing and delivering its DSA. It started on a small but impactful scale, with mentoring services, helping individual charities to develop effective digital strategies. The work was certainly impactful, but we realised that so many charities need strategy support, so we decided to scale our approach to delivering wider impact.
As per the Charity Digital Skills Report 2025, only 44% of charities have a digital strategy in place so this work is vital in supporting charities to address this gap. The increasing prevalence of artificial intelligence (AI) makes the work all the more important.
Our new approach involves an LMS and AI chatbots to help charities create a digital strategy through asynchronous learning. The LMS aims to empower charity professionals, helping them create a digital strategy at their own pace, in their own time.
We are keen to recruit voluntary sector representatives to be part of our user testing board. The role will be to provide feedback on how the programme has developed, providing detailed feedback, and commenting on potential improvements.
To be eligible for the user testing board, you need to work for a charity or other voluntary organisation with income of between £100k and £5m. Your job role does not matter and you do not need experience working in strategy. But you will need to have an interest in digital strategy.
Time commitments are flexible and start from just a few hours.
