The 5th Annual Digital Leaders Impact Awards have once again highlighted the latest champions of Tech for Good across the UK
Many organisations have encountered enormous challenges in the face of COVID-19. With technology filling in for the huge gap left in the wake of social distancing, this year’s celebration of digital leaders feels all the more important.
Since 2017, the Impact Awards have been shining a light on technological innovation that improves the lives and the world around us. The awards are open to any UK-operating business, individual, government, or charity using digital for social good.
The awards are grouped into three themes – People, Society, and Business, and open across 12 categories. Robin Knowles, CEO of Digital Leaders, said: “When the awards began in 2017 the idea of Tech for Good was well-established, but by no means as mainstream as it is now.
“Five years on and after 14 months of a global pandemic, I believe no one can be left in any doubt as to the power of technology to be a social and economic force for good.”
From 320 nominees across the UK, 36 finalists were announced on 17 May 2021. The finalists will each be judged by a panel of 21 experts at a ‘pitch-style’ event to help decide on winners,. However, voting is also now open for the public to cast.
Robin Knowles also added about the finalists: “This surging forward of tech for good during the pandemic is reflected in the sheer breadth and range of our 36 finalists this year and not forgetting the 320 entries we received from right across the UK.”
