The campaign is urging those having home haircuts to raise money for good causes and share their photos and images across social media.
The boss of a charity support technology firm has launched an online campaign to encourage people to donate money, they would have spent on a haircut during Covid-19 lockdown, to good causes.
HaircutForCharity has been launched by Alan Moody, the Chief Executive Officer of Microsoft Gold Partner m-hance, after noticing an increasing trend across social media of people cutting their hair at home while in isolation.
Those having their hair cut at home are encouraged to raise the profile of the campaign by uploading ‘before’ and ‘after’ photos and videos to social media.
A dedicated HaircutForCharity website has been created for the campaign. In addition social media accounts have been set up across Twitter, TikTok, Facebook, Youtube, LinkedIn and Instagram for people to upload their haircut footage.

Money raised will go to charities that register with the campaign. Those signed up so far include Age Action, Anthony Nolan and Edinburgh and Lothians Health Foundation.
“I was saddened at the effect the Coronavirus is having on the causes and missions of these charities and so was inspired to do something to help,” said Moody.
“Many charities rely on fundraising events and initiatives, which cannot currently take place for obvious reasons – directly impacting the ability of these charities to raise funds.
“Whilst this is happening, across the nation, we are all having to stay at home to minimise the spread of Covid-19 and so are not spending the money we usually would on haircuts at barbers and hair salons.
“HaircutForCharity is simply encouraging those who are able to, to donate what they would normally spend on haircuts to charity.”
M-hance is also a provider of Microsoft Dynamics 365 not-for-profit tools for fundraising, marketing and tracking donations.
