Everything you need to know about the Royal Voluntary Service’s free new platform aiming to ease the volunteering process for both charities and the public
Britain is facing a volunteer shortage, with many charities struggling to recruit the support they need. According to the UK Civil Society Almanac 2024, less than one in five (16%) people volunteer formally at least once a month, much lower than before the COVID-19 pandemic.
In response, Royal Voluntary Service is looking to work with charities to kickstart a volunteer revolution. In 2025, supported by players of the People’s Postcode Lottery, it is launching a free new platform aiming to ease the volunteering process for both charities and the public.
For over 80 years, Royal Voluntary Service has demonstrated the power of civic participation, believing that volunteers are the lifeforce of Britain’s communities. With the launch of their new volunteering platform, the organisation aims to create the biggest ever digital community for volunteering roles.
